the bodies show

the bodies show is a new take on a old idea. Contorting and changing the body is an old idea, contortionists make there bodies do things that people believe are impossible to do. the bodies show tries to explain the movements by taking apart the muscle groups and limbs of the body. its still trying to put on a spectacle but in more a sculpture ideal instead of actual movement. uses the human form as its media. the pieces are made up of cadavers that have been cut up and posed. the bodies show how the human form is actually created with the muscle and tendons.

day of the locusts

The novel seems to be about a crew of low life’s who all lust after the same woman. Its like a pack of wolfs that are all after the same deer, except the deer enjoys the hunt more then the wolves. The entire book is a downward spiral of lowlifes in Hollywood and the fake society based on film. It sort of reminds of the Florida and its love of theme parks. The fact that he lives in the part of town that is lower income housing and not the people masquerading around Hollywood. He lives with the people is says come to California to die.  Funny thing about that is he is right about that statement. I enjoyed the novel, then again I always enjoy things that don’t have a Hollywood ending, they always seem fake. I find novels that have twisted characters to be well more real for everyone has their problems and fatal character flaws. I think my favorite part of this novel was the ending cause the main character just loses his sanity, it completes the downward spiral that I saw within the novel
